The design story

A long, curved counter is given weight by a deeply shaped timber frame. Broad supports narrow and flare, setting a rhythm across dark inset panels; the visible grain and polished surfaces make the changing curves easy to read. The counter is shown with display cabinetry behind it, but remains a distinct piece with its own outline. Its interest is in the meeting of scale and detail: the sweep of the top, the sculpted base and the quieter upholstered surfaces held between them.
